The garden city turned into the silicon capital of India has made rapid strides in dairy activity.
From 50,000 Litres a day 5 decades back under UNICEF, today it is a 8 Lakh Litres/ Day, State-of- the- art plant expandable to 10 Lakh Litres/ Day. It covers 12 talukas with more than 2060 Societies functioning.
Hoskote on the outskirts of the city with 1.5 LLPD chilling plant, capacity has been converted into a new dairy of 2 LLPD which is now under operation.
It has chilling centres at Anekal-60 TLPD, Byrapatna-100 TLPD, D.B.Pura-100 TLPD, Vijayapura-150 TLPD, Solur-100 TLPD, Hosakote-200 TLPD, Kanakapura-100 TLPD with total capacity of 810 TLPD. There are 178 Bulk Milk Coolers and 657 Automatic Milk Collection and Community milking parlour-23 units in the union.
The union procures on an Average of 13.66 lakh kgs/day of milk and sells on an average 8.92 lakh litres/day milk and 1.60 lakh kgs per day curd. The Union also produces Butter, Ghee, SMP, Cream, Ladoo & Mysorepak, Peda.
Excellence: Biggest Fully computerized Dairy with no human handling of milk in South India with the distinction of having highest procurement and highest sale of milk by any dairy in Karnataka and highest seller of curds in the country; Union with lowest Distribution transportation cost.
