The Tumakuru District known for historical temples and Educational Institutions is known for its coconut, a major commercial crop apart from groundnut, adopting Dairying as one of the main occupations with initiation of Dairy activities in 1975 today has more than 1115 functioning DCS covering 10 talukas.
The Union which established 60 TLPD dairy at Mallasandra was expanded to 1 LLPD and subsequently in 2013 to 3 LLPD.
It has chilling centers at Yediyur-50 TLPD, Sira-20 TLPD, Kibbanahalli-70 TLPD and Madhugira-40 TLPD. Total chilling capacity 180 TLPD. There are 66 Bulk Milk Coolers, 383 Automatic Milk Collection Units in the union.
The union procures on an Average 5.90 lakh kg/day of milk and sales 2.35 lakh litres/per day.The Union also produces Butter, Ghee, SMP, Mysore Pak, Khova, Peda and Burfi.
